The fourth in a series of yearbooks to be published at the beginning of every year, Ewing Reviewing 2021 provides exposure for, and detailed historical information on a cross-section of Independent Theater performances drawn more-or-less at random from the previous calendar year in New York City … and, now, thanks to the World Wide Web, from online sources all over the world.
This year, we have included six essays on Independent Theater by well-known Off-Off- Broadway theater movers and shakers. Thoughts on Independent Theater speaks of inspiration, philosophy, mission and hope — highly recommended for anyone interested in theatrical arts and how they survived and thrived during a dark time.
The Index is a reference index, not a subject index. It provides an easy way to connect companies and individuals to productions. It lists individuals once in each event. If a name has three page numbers listed, that person is involved in three different plays, not one. Note: If their specialty is noted, assistants are listed under that specialty (e.g., “Assistant Directors” appear under "Directors"). Everyone who appears onstage can be found under "Actors."
Be sure to check out our previous years' editions: Ewing Reviewing 2020 with a beautiful photo spread of New York theaters sans people, worth more than the price of the book; and Ewing Reviewing 2018/2019.
